White House Eviction Prevention Summit

On June 30, 2021, the White House held a virtual summit to discuss ways to prevent eviction given the impending end to the eviction moratorium on July 31, 2021. During the event, small groups convened by metropolitan areas that the White House identified as high eviction areas.  Charlotte, Forsyth, and Guilford counties were the North Carolina areas included.  GCAA was represented in the Charlotte group. The small groups discussed potential ways to address evictions that included various eviction diversion program ideas and “Right to Counsel” for all residents in evictions actions as well as mandatory mediation or arbitration.
