Second Draft of the Charlotte Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Released

The Second Draft of the Charlotte Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) was released on June 3rd, and it is now  available for public review.

To help folks better understand the second draft, city Planning Staff developed a key changes resource document guide. It summarizes key changes in an abbreviated version. Here’s a link to the 11-page guide document, UDO-2nd-Draft-Summary-of-Key-Changes.pdf (charlotteudo.org)

Through continuous consistent participation and advocacy in the UDO and Policy Map processes, real estate industry partners that included GCAA, were able to make significant impact to proposed regulations in the first UDO draft that we felt would adversely affect housing affordability.

In addition, one of the UDO supporting/companion documents:  The Charlotte Streets Map and Streets Manual is a CDOT document and is also available for review and comment. It includes the new proposed Comprehensive Transportation Review that prioritizes multi-modal improvements in development projects.

The UDO, Streets Map, and Streets Manual will go before Council for a public hearing on July 11, 2022.
