Gov. Cooper vetoed election bill that would end grace period for NC’s mail-in ballots

Republican-backed bill lawmakers passed in November, Senate Bill 326, or the Election Day Integrity Act was vetoed. It would have changed the election law to require that absentee ballots be received at the county board of elections by 5pm on Election Day, regardless of postmark, in order to be counted.
